Monday, May 23, 2022 at 10:30 AM (EDT) to Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 3:00 PM (EDT)

Event Details

Statistical Horizons will host Introduction to Agent-Based Modeling, a 4-day livestream seminar taught by Paul Smaldino on May 23-26.
In this seminar, you will learn to design and build your own agent-based model, analyze agent-based models both qualitatively and quantitatively, and use NetLogo. While we focus on models of contagion, most of the modeling techniques you will learn are applicable to models of social dynamics more generally.
Topics covered include:
  • Models, agent-based and otherwise
  • Cellular automata models
  • A simple host-pathogen model
  • Mobile agents SI and SIS models
  • SIR models
  • Modeling vaccines and herd immunity
  • Batch runs
  • Network models
  • Small-world networks
  • Simple and complex contagions on networks
This livestream seminar will be held via Zoom, but you can also join asynchronously by viewing the recorded videos of each session. Sessions are held live each day from 10:30am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-3:00pm ET (New York time).
